For this months Partner of the Month we are featuring our friends at Twin Cities CO-OP Partners. The Director of Marketing, Amy Freese, gave some insights on why and how they are constant contributors to the work we do.
Why does Twin Cities Co-op Partners (TCCP) support the Du Nord Foundation Community Market?
TCCP, which operates the Wedge Co-op, Linden Hills Co-op, and Co-op Partners Warehouse (CPW), is a food cooperative rooted in the belief that providing access to real food made by real people makes a difference in our lives, our neighborhood and for our planet. We are inspired by the Du Nord Foundation and Community Market and understand that their work in an integral part of building a strong community.
How are you supporting the Du Nord Foundation?
TCCP supports Du Nord Foundation and the Community Market in 4 ways.
In the summer of 2020, TCCP started a program that donates sale proceeds from Black Lives Matters yard signs to the Foundation. To date, proceeds have exceeded over $12,000.
The Community Market regularly buys produce from CPW to stock the shelves of the market with nutritious and culturally appropriate foods.
The Community Market was a recipient of our February 2022 Change Matters register round-up funds totaling over $8,000.
Several TCCP employees have been honored to volunteer at the Community Market.
Why is this work important to your organization?
We are committed to building a strong, equitable food system and the Du Nord Foundation’s Community Market is a key partner in this mission. Now more than ever, our community is in need of organizations like Du Nord Foundation, and we are honored to help them feed our neighbors and empower our community.
What is your message to other organizations?
Our co-op was built by a community of neighbors over four decades ago. We know the power of strong community and the amazing things that can be achieved when people join toward a common goal. We know that the Du Nord Foundation will achieve remarkable things and invite all our fellow businesses and organizations to be a part of their incredible work!
