REBUILD RECOVERY FUND

Rebuild Recovery Fund

In the days following the murder of George Floyd, our own warehouse
was damaged in the unrest that swept across Minneapolis. The next day, Du Nord founders Chris and Shanelle Montana launched a GoFundMe campaign—not just for themselves, but for others like them.

The Rebuild Recovery Fund was created to support underrepresented small business owners whose storefronts and workspaces were damaged during the uprising and who lacked the insurance or capital to recover on their own.

By October 2020, we disbursed $496,751 in emergency grants to 76 businesses in Minneapolis and St. Paul. Grant amounts ranged from $3,000 to $15,000 and were used to cover everything from construction and technology to basic supplies.

One recipient, Creative Kuponya, shared this note of appreciation: “We can not thank you enough ... your dollars will go towards everything from furniture to file folders. Every cent counts right now!”

This initiative is now complete as of 2020.
